The Syndicate are 3 piece indie band from Manchester.
You may be thinking, YAWN another indie band from Manchester, here we go again more Liam Gallagher wannabes.
However thankfully, The Syndicate have managed to avoid anything like that with this single ‘Silver City.’
Firstly, the guitars are very catchy and very Arctic Monkeys,, and they are from Sheffield which is Yorkshire not Manchester…
Also as the song kicks in and the vocals come at you they are similar to those of Matt Bellamy of Muse and he is a southern so this is certainly not just another Manchester Oasis tribute act.
Anyway, the song…well the guitars and vocals go well together and the initial verses go down well ‘ Next thing I am walking on heads with sweet anticipation’ being exactly how I am feeling about the start of this song.
So far the song is pretty good, once you have a few listens you get to sing a long a bit and certainly it is a good single.
The chorus however to me falls a bit flat, the vocals seem a little strained and it doesn’t do justice to the rest of the song which had built up fairly nicely. It slows down the pace of the song. I feel it probably would just work…But not here. Maybe I am being a tad harsh because I like the song but this dampens it slightly.
However, ignoring the disappointment there the guitar solos and rocking drums at the end certainly go down well and give this track some edge. The repeating ‘Sea or the city’ over the guitar and drums works better than the chorus and maybe would have given the track something different in the middle.
Overall, a good effort with some good guitar and drum work and really interesting vocal sounds during the song.
